Hello everyone!
I am Tak Chan Man.
Today I would like to talk about my favourite avocado.
I love avocado salad so much that I eat it in restaurants at least three times a week,
How about you?
It’s nutritious, healthy and especially popular with women.
Avocados are loved by everyone, but what about non-humans?
Avocados are actually poisonous to dogs, cats and birds.
Avocados contain a poison called persin, which is not a problem for humans but is highly toxic to non-human animals.
Birds in particular are at risk of death within hours of inoculation, so everyone should be careful.
For dogs and cats, inoculation can also cause loss of appetite, belching, cramps and nausea, so take them to a hospital immediately.
Also, here’s a bit of trivia about avocados: you may think of avocados as a vegetable, but they are actually a fruit!
They are sometimes mistaken for a vegetable in supermarkets because they are sometimes displayed in the vegetable section. However, they are also known as the ‘butter of the forest’ because of their many nutrients such as vitamin E, folic acid and dietary fibre.
Also, domestically produced avocados are in season from November to January, but most are imported from Mexico.
Imported products are available all year round, so if you have never tried them, give them a go!
